# Optimizing Server Performance

## How to Optimize Your Minecraft Server for Performance

1. **Pregenerate Chunks**

   * Use the **Chunky** plugin or mod to pregenerate chunks:

     * Install **Chunky** via the **Plugin Installer** or **Mods Installer**, which automatically filters for the correct version.

     * Run a 5000-radius generation using the Chunky commands. Follow the detailed guide [here](pregen-chunks-chunky) for setup instructions.

2. **Optimize for Paper**

   * Navigate to the **Settings** section of your server panel.

   * Change the default startup flag to **Optimized Paper**.

   * In **Variables**, disable **Overwrite Startup** to ensure the optimized flag is used.

   * Restart the server to apply these changes.

3. **Ensure Sufficient Resources**

   * Check that your server has enough RAM and CPU resources allocated for optimal performance.
